‘Best Of Breed’ Investment
No single investment house has the best manager in every market and every asset class. To reflect this reality, Bentley Capital employs a ‘best of breed’ approach, selecting the most suitable managers in each market sector and region to gain investment exposure for client portfolios.
Bentley Capital’s dedicated fund manager research team executes in-depth qualitative and quantitative research, including regular meetings with the individual fund managers. Bentley Capital’s independence ensures that manager selection is unbiased, driven purely by the investment merits of the chosen manager. It also means that we can achieve the finest investment terms for client portfolios, materially reducing the cost of investing in the ‘best of breed’ managers.
The Investment Process
Bentley Capital employs a disciplined, institutional investment process to manage the many different client mandates. Though portfolios are constantly reviewed to ensure they suit the changing market environment, salient portfolio issues are formally reviewed at two separate monthly meetings.
At the first of these meetings, asset allocation is considered. Areas covered include the split between equities, bonds, cash and alternative investments; the duration and quality of bond holdings; the country allocation in each asset class and any relevant currency issues. At the second meeting the portfolio positions are formally reviewed, covering existing holdings, funds that are on the watch list and new funds that are worth consideration. Decisions at each of these meetings are promptly implemented in all relevant portfolios.
